Location of old mansion
The old mansion is located in Hyderabad, which is now the capital of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for 10 years. The old mansion was the official home of nizams of Hyderabad since the 17th century. It is located in the south-east of Afzal Gunj Bridge in Hyderabad.
History of old mansion
The old mansion is also known as Haveli Khadim. Purani Haveli was built by Ali Khan Bahadur, Asaf Jha II for his son Sikandar Jha, who was on the arrival of Nizam rule in Asaf Jha III Hyderabad. At that time, Hyderabad was known as the state of Hyderabad. Originally, just after the fall of the Mughal dynasty, during the Qutub Shahi dynasty at the end of the 16th century, the ruler of Hyderabad was considered the residence of Mir Moman, prime minister of the ruler Mohammad Porter Qutub Shah. It was renovated in the 18th century. However, when it was later assumed, Sikandar Jah decided to transfer his residence to the Khilawat complex in Chowmahalla, known as the Chaumhalla Palace. The building is known as the Purani Haveli. When the sixth Nizam Nawab Mir Mehboob Ali Khan Siddiqui made it his official residence in the 19th century, the palace regained its former glory.
Architecture of old mansion
The old mansion is a "U" shaped complex with a storey built in European style and surrounded by the wings of two double striped tombs near each other, while the residential palace is located vertically in the centre. The main building of the old mansion is similar to the 18th century European palaces. The palace complex has a museum of Nizam, dedicated to the last Nizam of Hyderabad. Library Puri Haveli is one of the important landmarks of Hyderabad in the entire haveli. A library and Mukarram Jah Technical Institute are also part of the premises of Purani Haveli. A museum showcasing the seventh Nizam's collection of gifts is also available for national and international tourists.
