On 26th July, kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year in the country. The day is celebrated in remembrance of the success of ' Operation Vijay '. On July 26, 1999, India regained its territory from the occupation of Pakistani infiltrators in Kargil.

In February, 1999, There was a Lahore agreement between India and Pakistan for peace in Kashmir. In the meantime, some Pakistani infiltrators entered the Indian border, the infiltration work was renamed as ' Operation Badr '. The pakistani infiltration was aimed at cutting the link between Kashmir and Ladakh, causing the Indian Army to withdraw from the Siachen Glacier. These infiltrators worked in a planned manner. The scope of this infiltration was 130 to 200 sq km.

To deal with this serious, the Government of India launched ' Operation Vijay ' and 2, 00000 soldiers were dispatched for the work. After the operation lasted till 60, the Indian Army re-established control of its territory. The operation was completed on 26th July, 1999. 527 Jawans of Indian Army were martyred. About 450 Pakistani infiltrators died in the war.

May 5-15, 1999: Captain Saurabh Kalia, who inspected the area, was kidnapped and tortured and murdered by Pakistan sanks.

May 26, 1999 : Infiltrators were attacked by MiG 21, MiG 27, Jaguar and Mirage 2000.

June 15, 1999: Then US President Bill Clinton asked the Pakistani Prime Minister to withdraw his troops from Kargil.

June 29, 1999: The Indian Army established control at two important locations near Tiger Hill.
July 4, 1999 : Use of artillery, conquest of tiger.

July 5, 1999: Pakistani Pm announces withdrawal of troops from Kargil.

July 11, 1999: Withdrawal of Pakistani troops begins.

July 26, 1999: All Pakistani infiltrators were driven out of Kargil.
