India-Israel sign agreement on cyber security


On July 15, 2020, India and Israel signed agreements to expand their cooperation in tackling cyber threats. The agreement was signed between Director General of National Cyber Directorate of Israel (INCD) and Sanjeev Singla, Ambassador of India to Israel.

The main thing
The cyber security agreement also includes the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) which works under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and INCD. The agreement will expand the scope of exchange of information between countries on cyber threats.

The agreement will assist in capacity building and exchange of best practices in the field.

Cyber security was identified as one of the important areas of cooperation by the leaders of India and Israel when PM Modi visited Israel in 2017. The two countries also signed cyber security agreements in 2018.

The COVID-19 crisis is transforming the work culture all over the world. Industries are reducing the physical presence of their employees. The work from ' work from home ' culture is growing in a big way. As a result, cyber threats have also increased.
